Theatrical Art and Dramatic Structure in Television

Catalog description

This course explores the theatrical antecedents and structural elements of television drama. We will investigate the development of dramatic storytelling in early theatre and how the medium of television has drawn from theatrical practices and traditions throughout its evolution. Students will analyze plays and television scripts, compare the experiences of the two media, examine the theatricality of television today, and create a television treatment for a final project.
