Catalog description
An introduction to chemical principles intended for students who have taken an advanced high-school level chemistry course and have some prior knowledge of differential and integral calculus. Introductory topics, such as stoichiometry, chemical equations, and reaction yields, will be covered very briefly because prior knowledge in chemistry is assumed. Topics covered include introductory quantum mechanics, properties of atoms, chemical bonding, and states of matter. Three hours of lecture per week. CHEM 1090 is mutually exclusive with CHEM 1070 . Students may receive credit for only one of CHEM 1090 or CHEM 1070 in the undergraduate degree.
