Employment and Labor Law: Investigations and Negotiations for Human Resources Managers

Catalog description

Because navigating federal and state employment laws is the one of the greatest challenges in human resources management, this course surveys the key concepts in employment law, exploring their impact on the workforce and the workplace. Students will develop skills in critical analysis while identifying problems and corresponding legal issues; reading and analyzing legal opinions, statutes, regulations, and articles; applying laws to factual scenarios; and synthesizing predictions, recommendations, and solutions. This online course includes 2-4 synchronous video conferences, the scheduling of which will confirm during the first week of classes, with recordings available for students who are unable to attend. This course will not satisfy requirements toward majors in the School of Liberal Arts or the A.B. Freeman School of Business.
