Catalog description

Beginning Korean II is the second course in the first-year Korean sequence. It is designed for students who have completed Beginning Korean I ( ASTK 1010 ) or demonstrate equivalent proficiency. The course continues to build foundational skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, with an emphasis on everyday communication and cultural understanding. Students expand high-frequency vocabulary and strengthen core grammar needed to handle common situations such as making plans, shopping and ordering, describing routines, talking about past experiences, and expressing preferences. Learners will practice Korean through interactive communication, pair activities, role-plays, short presentations, and guided writing. Cultural topics may include daily life in Korea, etiquette, food, school life, and popular culture (e.g., K-pop, dramas) as appropriate for beginner learners.
