Catalog description

This is an introductory course to computational design and will introduce students to fundamental concepts and techniques in computational design as well as the relevant mathematics. Initially, computational design tools were used to realize formally complex work, but as the paradigm has developed, its capability to address issues of fabrication, constructability, sustainability, and/or problems of the information age has become abundantly clear. Using the Grasshopper plug-in for Rhino, this course will focus on exploring computational design methods and techniques with a strong focus on architectural geometry.
