Collective Housing Seminar in Barcelona
Tulane University of Louisiana · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This is a seminar designed for students to learn about collective housing from different historic periods in Barcelona. During a 7-day trip in Barcelona, students visit housing projects, experiencing public space and public transit, visiting the basic touristic architectural destinations, and immersed within the Catalan culture. The goal is to understand that needed architectural innovation in housing happens more easily when one has a wide culture of references. This course has three parts, one week of preparation with readings and lectures about Barcelona, one week of immersion in the city with an experienced Tulane faculty member, and one month to complete assignments related to the course.
