Acting for Musical Theatre

Catalog description

This performance-based research lab will guide students to develop an effective technique for acting through song. Through several projects that will integrate text and music, students will approach musical theatre acting with a set of tools to create a seamless performed experience. Students will also learn what makes an effective musical storyteller and develop an understanding of their character type in the musical theatre canon. Students will learn and employ industry best practices and work with visiting industry guest artists.
