Catalog description

Designed for students in the Accelerated MSN program, this course focuses on the integration of clinical reasoning, leadership, and evidenced-based practice in the management of patient care across diverse healthcare settings. Introduces common/acute health alterations for individuals across the lifespan. Examines the physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual components influencing health states. Explores the concept of illness as an alteration in health for body systems including gastrointestinal, endocrine, integumentary, and immune system. Presents fundamental nursing skills, principles of safe, effective medication administration. This course includes clinical learning opportunities related to evidence-based clinical decisions in a caring environment for the utilization of therapeutic interventions, communication, and collaboration for promotion of optimal health.
