Catalog description

Individual studies in performance are a vital part of any music curriculum. The graduate student in music education should, upon consultation with his/her advisor, elect to study in the areas most consistent with his/her personal needs and career goals. For the secondary school teacher this may involve deeper exploration of instruments he/she does not play well. For the prospective junior college or college teacher it will involve further study of his/her principal performing area. Graduate study in performance is through private instruction only. The student will be required to take at least 2 hours of performance instruction in his/her program of studies.
