Catalog description

By the end of the course, students will have covered sublists 1 & 2 of the Academic Vocabulary Lists, adjective vocabulary, and major prefixes and suffixes of academic English. Students will also read and reflect on identifying the main ideas and supporting details of a story, utilize Literacy Circles, for comprehension, learn to answer short-answer, multiple-choice, and True/false/inference questions, Identify author bias, tone, purpose, and argument in texts, and read a variety of reading styles including Poem, short story, novel chapter, academic journal, academic paper, academic textbook, and level-appropriate ESL texts.
