Catalog description

This course explores art collections as hands-on learning spaces. With an emphasis on Alabama art, students will dig into the stories behind selected artworks, record and edit interviews, and create photos, videos, and written pieces that help explain why these works matter. Focusing on pieces connected to African American, Native American, and immigrant experiences, students will help build a public archive for the university, while learning techniques in video and audio recording, analytical and interpretive writing, oral history and photographic techniques.
