Catalog description

The course covers the function of language, nature of meanings, valid/invalid reasoning, and deductive/inductive methods. Particular emphasis will be given to the application of formal techniques to the evaluation of arguments in everyday settings. The course is argument and language oriented. Prerequisite: Junior standing or permission of instructor.
