Catalog description

This course is the second in a three-part Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) sequence designed to provide a foundational framework for understanding and applying EBP in the health sciences, covering the steps of the EBP process and strategies for implementation in diverse practice settings. In this second course in the series, emphasis is placed on the Appraise phase of the EBP cycle. Students will apply study methodology to document and assess evidence quality, distinguish among research designs and their implications for evidence strength, and critically evaluate studies for trustworthiness and methodological rigor. Emphasis is placed on ethical feasibility, professional communication, and the integration of design-specific knowledge into structured evidence documentation and evaluation. These skills prepare students for synthesis and clinical application of evidence in the final research project. Prerequisite: PAS 5172.
