Catalog description

Students will explore leadership theories and management concepts relevant to the current healthcare trends, interdisciplinary teamwork, and impact on service delivery. Principles of supervision will be analyzed with an emphasis on collaboration with the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) and other non-OT personnel. Issues of interest for the professional such as the occupational therapist’s role in emerging practice areas, national health disparities, occupational justice, and healthcare reform will be examined. Students will be expected to demonstrate competence with professional communication, collaboration with interprofessional graduate students, and professionalism. In this course, students will learn project management principles to generalize to Capstone Development ( OTD 6554 ). Prerequisites: Successful completion of the previous semester, OTD 5232 , OTD 5332
