Introduction to design methodology and practice. Product specifications. Concept generation and selection. Product design. Design for manufacturing. Economics of product development. Prototyping. Teams of students work on a design project in the area of mechanical engineering. Design project work will continue in MAE 4063. Prerequisites: MAE 353, MAE 3033, ES 313 , and MAE 373 or CO 453.
