Introduction to Econometrics

Catalog description
This course is designed for the finance and economics students as a continuation Statistics. Students will first revisit the topics of probability, distributions, and hypothesis testing, exploring these topics more thoroughly. Most of the semester will be devoted to building solid theoretical and practical foundation of econometrics. Students will proceed from the simple regression model onto multiple regression analysis in the context of cross-sectional data, time series data, and finally panel data. Violations and fixes to serial correlation and heteroskedasticity problems will be studied. Students will be asked to demonstrate and apply the concepts studied while carrying out an empirical research project. Prerequisite: ECO 223 or ECO 203 and MA 253 or MA 393.
