Catalog description

An introduction to three-phase power distribution and utilization. Steady-state power system performance measures: efficiency, ratings, voltage regulation, and reactive power control are used as unifying concepts across a study of the main power system components. Fuse and circuit breaker protection methods are also discussed. Students will: Analyze single-phase radial circuits and design for power-factor correction; analyze three-phase radial circuits and design for power-factor correction; analyze unbalanced three-phase radial circuits with a specified load voltage; model and design three-phase transformer circuits. Prerequisite: ECE 213
