Catalog description

Microbiological and biochemical phenomena are treated from an engineering standpoint. Course topics include an overview of basic biological concepts along with the modern techniques of biotechnology. Mathematical models of enzyme and whole cell systems are derived and discussed. Commercial and laboratory reactors, as well as separation techniques, are studied. Prerequisite: MA 233 ( BME 4303 same as CHE 4073 )
