Catalog description

This course offers an introduction of the roles, responsibilities, functions, and characteristics of a professional school counselor. It includes the examination of the philosophy, history, and current trends in school counseling, and the concept of compre hensive school counseling programs in a school setting. Students will be introduced to counseling and educational theories, methods, and evidence-based techniques needed by today's school counselors to work with varied populations within the context of a multi-tiered system of support. A 15-hour practicum is required with this course.
