Foundations of Education

Catalog description

This course traces the history of American education and the associated themes in educational philosophy, including the basic knowledge and skills necessary to become a successful teacher. Students will formulate their own beginning philosophy of education based upon their analysis of the values, practices, and strategies reviewed in this course and will begin work on a standards-based professional portfolio. Other topics include legal and ethical issues in education and the teacher as a professional.
