An integrated presentation of neuroscience and neurophysiology with emphasis on the sensory and motor functions of the human nervous system. In preparation for clinical studies, students are expected to learn the anatomy of the human nervous system, basic principles of neurophysiology, and muscle function, as well as the effects of disease on the nervous system. This class is devoted to regional gross structure and function of the nervous system, including the head, neck, upper extremity, superficial back, spine, thorax, abdomen, pelvis, and lower extremity. The student is introduced to clinical problem identification through discussion of the anatomical bases for somatic dysfunction. Emphasis is placed on building the relationship between structure and function of the neuromusculoskeletal system and the clinical implications of dysfunction.
