Catalog description
In this pass/fail course series (0 credit hours), a sequence of benchmark examinations will be administered to measure a student’s knowledge, skills and abilities of core professional activities that are essential for Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs) and pharmacist career success. These activities include interpreting information from medication databases, performing pharmacy calculations, managing resources to promote patient wellness and pharmacy operations, utilizing the pharmacist’s patient care process, counseling patients, and educating other healthcare team members on pharmacotherapy. Depending on the core professional activity, the assessment will be administered as either a written examination or as an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE). Since these professional activities are vital for success, students must pass each benchmark examination to pass this course series and to be eligible to participate in APPEs. To pass a benchmark examination, students must meet minimal requirements set by the college on both program-level competencies and demonstration of skills.
