Catalog description

This 3-credit hour course familiarizes students with the U.S. health care system, the pharmacy profession within that system, and how pharmacists can perform to the best of their capabilities to maximize patient medication-related health outcomes in that system. It stresses socio-behavioral aspects of care, which take into account human (patient) tendencies, behaviors, antecedents and implications of those behaviors so as to optimize pharmacists’ ability to communicate with, engage, activate, and develop rapport with patients and other stakeholders in the medication use process.
