Catalog description

This course provides an in-depth understanding of psychopharmacology and its application in the treatment of psychiatric disorders. Key topics will include the classification of psychotropic drugs, evidence-based prescribing practices, and the role of the nurse practitioner in medication management. Emphasis is placed on the action, absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and adverse reactions of the major classes of medications used in clinical practice. Students will also examine the ethical and legal considerations in prescribing, including informed consent and the monitoring of medication efficacy and safety.
