Catalog description

This course is designed to heighten students’ awareness of the struggles unique to children, adolescents and their families in today’s environment. Emphasis is on assessment using the bio- psycho-social-spiritual framework that incorporates an exploration of risk and protective factors to promote resiliency. The social and organizational context which frames the service delivery systems for children and adolescents are explored. Students explore the etiology and treatment for prevalent child and adolescent struggles such as eating disorders, mental health concerns, suicide, grief, gangs, child abuse, and addiction.
