Managed Care Pharmacy

Catalog description

This course will provide an overview of managed care pharmacy and an understanding of how managed care pharmacy impacts the healthcare system. The course will explain the place of managed care in the US healthcare system with special emphasis on pharmacy benefit management, formulary management, and the roles and responsibilities of a managed care pharmacist. New topics in managed care such as specialty pharmacy will also be introduced to the students. Students will also learn about drug use evaluation, outcomes research, and pharmacoeconomics.
