Catalog description

This course provides students with an introduction to community pharmacy practice skills including legal aspects of filling and dispensing prescriptions, errors and omissions, and patient counseling. In addition, the course introduces students to common self-care topics encountered in community-based settings. Students will also complete the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Immunization Certification Program. Laboratory sessions are interactive, hands-on sessions that simulate real-life pharmacist experiences in the model pharmacy. Through this process, students will develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills and will aid in the transition to the introductory and advanced community pharmacy practice experiences (IPPE and APPEs).
