The Orthopedics Clerkship is completed as part of the Orthopedics/Pediatrics block rotation. The objectives of this clerkship are to reinforce the concepts and techniques taught in the preparatory didactic courses in orthopedic sciences as well as to transform and apply this knowledge in a clinical environment. Students will be engaged in the supervised evaluation and treatment of adult patients with lower extremity orthopedic, biomechanical and postural pathology. Students are also taught the methods of fabricating and modifying foot orthoses. Advanced orthopedic evaluation techniques including slow motion video and computerized gait analysis are utilized in this rotation. Prerequisites: Completion of second year curriculum; enrollment in Semester V didactic coursework
