Catalog description

This course provides students with a solid foundation in database design concepts and related skills. The course explores database design techniques such as database models, normalization, currently used CAD database modeling/design tools, database management concepts such as database performance optimization, transaction processing and concurrency control, indexing, security and database recovery, database implementation techniques using an industry standard DBMS and user interface. Students will design and implement databases and use industry standard language such as SQL to construct simple and more complex queries to retrieve and manipulate data.
