Advanced Externship

Catalog description

Students who have taken the Civil Externship (LAWN 897) or Judicial Clerkship Externship (LAWN899) are permitted to take the Advanced Externship. Students are required to work 140 hours in private law firms, corporate law departments, government legal offices, or non-profit/public interest legal groups. Students’ responsibilities include attending court, administrative proceedings and business transactions; interviewing, negotiating, and counseling; and researching and drafting pleadings and memoranda. Students will be required to draft a list of substantive legal worked performed each week and upload the information onto CANVAS.
