Employment Discrimination Law

Catalog description

This course covers the basic principles of employment discrimination law through the lens of current workplace challenges: speech on political events; religious accommodation; DEI Initiatives; algorithm-based hiring practices; and many more. Students examine the applicable federal, state and New York City statutes and key doctrinal law prohibiting workplace discrimination and retaliation based on the growing list of protected classes and statuses, with frequent simulations to give an understanding of how these statutes and doctrinal law are applied by lawyers who represent workers and lawyers who represent employers, to address these real-life, hyper-current issues with clients.
