Catalog description

This course covers legal issues arising out of organized amateur and professional sports. Amateur sports topics include the role of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and other governing bodies in matters such as eligibility, gender dis-crimination, antitrust, and contractual relationships. Professional sports topics include leagues, labor relations, antitrust, and representation of professional athletes. Topics common to both include criminal matters, tort issues, and drug testing.
