Building upon Criminal Law I, this course presents an advanced study of foundational concepts and doctrines underlying criminal law. Topics will include the roles of judges, lawyers, and juries in the criminal justice system, theories of punishment, statutory interpretation, elements of crime, substantive crimes such as murder, and defenses.
