Development of Post-Talmudic Literature

Catalog description

An examination of Jewish legal literature from the close of the Talmud until the 14th century. The course will analyze the authorship, content and methodology of specific works, and assess the purpose of these works. Readings will include: R. Hai Gaon, R. Yitzchak Alfasi, R. Yonatan m’Lunel, Rashi, Ri Migash, Maimonides, Nahmanides, Rashba and Ritvah.
