Catalog description

Examines current demographic trends that shape the lives of the current elderly population and the specific skills and knowledge necessary to respond professionally and effectively to the needs of an aging population. We will study the structure and effect of the most significant federal programs benefiting the elderly: Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. The course also examines the rights of patients in nursing homes as well as other housing options and programs for seniors.
