Catalog description

What is “substance abuse?” is the question that is addressed and answered in this seminar; the science of addiction; the difference between prescription and illicit drugs; the physiological effects of drug use; identifying substance abuse behaviors and consequential effects; understand the five-stage process of change (pre-contemplation, contemplation, preparation. action. and maintenance); modalities of treatment and support: drug-induced mental illness diagnosis; triggers and cravings: relapse prevention. Case presentations are current with Federal and local laws, state regulations, and treatment modalities within the various concentration areas within the Human Services Department. Current literature, resources, and local programming information shared with participant at conclusion.
