Catalog description

This course covers classical and popular American music, focusing primarily on the Twentieth Century. We will explore how the social and historical forces spanning from Colonial American times to the present have influenced musical development in our country. Students will listen to the works of great American composers, and their lives and social context will be discussed. Trips to concerts and recitals may be included.
