Catalog description

Students complete a total of 50 clock hours of a college-supervised Practicum, combining experience in Grades PreK-6 and 7-12. Those with a year or more of teaching literacy experience may be exempt from these hours. The course includes mandatory attendance at three seminars, the compilation of an ePortfolio, and the submission of a case study integrating relevant research. During the Practicum, students, under the supervision of certified cooperating teachers, gain proficiency in using various test materials for diagnosing reading and writing difficulties. Evaluations from cooperating teachers and analysis of the Practicum experience contribute to students' understanding and ability to address literacy challenges.
