Methods Of Teaching Native Lang Art

Catalog description

This course provides an overview of theory, approaches, methods and techniques in teaching content (language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science) in the native language of the students. We will address concepts in content and language integrated learning, development of academic vocabulary, biliteracy support, cultures in the classroom, use of technology, and assessment for Multilingual Learners. Candidates will reflect critically on issues of equity and access, language ideologies that drive policy and practice, and methodologies that give bilingual students agency in their own learning process within a culturally sustaining pedagogical framework. Includes 15 hours of fieldwork.
