This course reviews the structure of American English. It is designed to help students develop an enhanced understanding of the grammatical system of the English language. Students will learn about diverse theories, approaches, methods, and practical techniques of grammar instruction for English language learners. An in depth-study of the English syntax, focusing on grammatical structures, candidates will gain knowledge of the grammatical system and develop and ability to apply their knowledge to the teaching of English as a second language Special emphasis will be placed on developing instructional strategies to assist English language learners in meeting the current English Language Arts standards. Includes 5 hours of fieldwork.
