Catalog description

This course will require second year dental students to utilize the knowledge, concepts, and skills that they acquired in the first year Ethics and Professionalism course. The course is structured so that students will be able to establish an ethical context for inter-professional practice and collaborative care. The first session will consist of a general discussion about scopes of practice and collaborative care practice. Students will prepare for each session by completing pertinent reading assignments. They will then participate in small group case study discussions. The small group sessions are meant to emphasize the skills of ethical thinking/acting. Each group will be composed of second year dental students and first year medical students. Discussions will be facilitated by both physician and dentist preceptors.
