MU 4532. Mariachi Arranging. Mariachi folk forms and the techniques of arranging for mariachi ensembles. Use of notation software; creation of arrangements for groups with varying instrumentation; and the history and characteristics of various mariachi folk forms, including rancheras, cumbias, boleros, ballads, sones, jarabes, danzónes, and pasodobles. Prerequisites: MU 2531 and MU 2533 . Two lecture hours a week. Credit: Two hours.
