Catalog description

SPAN 3323. Foundations of Interpreting. Foundations of the theory, methods, and practice of interpreting. Community interpreting (interpreting in school, medical, and legal settings) and interpreting theory. Interpretation in the simultaneous and consecutive (bilateral) modes. Sight translation. Non-native/heritage Spanish speakers are encouraged to take SPAN 3313 before enrolling in this course. Prerequisite: SPAN 2043 or SPAN 2313 with a grade of B or higher. Three lecture hours a week. Credit: Three hours.
