DH 4563. Clinical Dental Hygiene IV Practice. Application of evidence-based decision making and critical thinking in the clinical management of adult patients with severe periodontal disease, integrating the dental hygiene process of care and oral health education. Continued care for patients with less complex needs and ongoing identification and management of oral conditions. Incorporation of selected dental materials into direct patient care experiences. Development of skills working in interprofessional teams to enhance communication, collaboration, and comprehensive patient-centered care. Supervised adjunctive procedures and quality assurance activities. Final preparation for clinical board exams and professional entry. This required course is part of the degree plan for the major of dental hygiene. As with all required dental hygiene courses, this course is contextualized in and compliant with the Commission on Dental Accreditation requirements. This content is essential for accreditation and prepares BSDH students for success on the National Dental Hygiene Examination. Co-requisite: DH 4561 . 12 to 16 clinical laboratory hours a week. Credit: Three hours.
