DH 4313. Community Oral Health. Principles, practices, and methods of dental public health, including oral health education; emphasis on the role of the dental hygienist in community oral and interdisciplinary health programs. This course includes a discussion of responsive care and may address sensitive topics related to health disparities, access to care, and community needs. This required course is part of the degree plan for the major of dental hygiene. As with all required dental hygiene courses, this course is contextualized in and compliant with the Commission on Dental Accreditation requirements. The content is essential for accreditation and prepares BSDH students for success on the National Dental Hygiene Examination. Three lecture hours a week. Credit: Three hours.
