DH 3542. Pharmacology for the Dental Hygienist. Overview of concepts of drug therapy and specific mechanisms of action, including pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics for drugs commonly prescribed in dentistry or for medical conditions that may alter dental hygiene treatment; includes general and local anesthetic agents. This required course is part of the degree plan for the major of dental hygiene. As with all required dental hygiene courses, this course is contextualized in and compliant with the Commission on Dental Accreditation requirements. The content is essential for accreditation and prepares BSDH students for success on the National Dental Hygiene Examination. Two lecture hours a week. Credit: Two hours.
