DH 3512. Clinical Dental Hygiene II Practice. Utilization of evidence-based decision-making and critical thinking through the integration of the dental hygiene process of care and patient oral health education, with an emphasis on pediatric patients, healthy adults, and adults with gingivitis and slight periodontitis. The course may include clinical scenarios involving sensitive health-related material. Skills for working in an interprofessional environment to enhance collaboration with members of the healthcare team to support comprehensive patient care. This required course is part of the degree plan for the major of dental hygiene. As with all required dental hygiene courses, this course is contextualized in and compliant with the Commission on Dental Accreditation requirements. The content is essential for accreditation and prepares BSDH students for success on the National Dental Hygiene Examination. Guided practice sessions, adjunct clinical procedure, and quality assurance discussions. Co-requisite: Co requisite: DH 3511 . Eight to twelve clinical laboratory hours a week. Credit: Two hours.
