DH 3112. Periodontology I. Periodontal conditions including the healthy periodontium, immune response, periodontal pathogenesis, diseases of the periodontium, and an overview of clinical periodontal assessment, non-surgical therapy, and maintenance. Course content may include sensitive health-related material. This course is part of the degree plan for the major of dental hygiene. As with all required dental hygiene courses, this course is contextualized in and compliant with the Commission on Dental Accreditation requirements. The content prepares BSDH students for success on the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination. Two lecture hours a week. Credit: Two hours.
