COMS 4113. SLPA Foundations: Professional Practice and Responsibilities. Foundational knowledge and applied strategies for the Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) in healthcare and educational settings. Emphasis on professional roles and responsibilities, clinical and ethical standards, and evidence-informed practices that support individuals with communication disorders. Professionalism, supervision, regulatory considerations, prevention, advocacy, and cultural competence within the field. Three lecture hours a week. Credit: Three hours.
