Catalog description

This course is designed to expose students to population health, public health, the community, and delivery of health care in the community. SCI is comprised of seven themes that are threaded throughout the first two years: biostatistics, epidemiology, community, family, culture, environmental and occupational health, and Spanish. Familiarity with students conversational and medical spanish in intregrated into the curriculum. In addition, all students will learn about the Border community and culture though field experiences and exercises. Students will also learn principles of evidence based medicine and will be given opportunties to partcipate in service learning projects and community based research.
